More than a kick butt workout, the magic of Studio B is the amazing women who gather here each and every day. Each woman brings her own unique strength and story to the barre and it is my honor to use this space to spotlight a barre addict on the first Wednesday of each month.
This month, we are honored to introduce you to Kim Sauer! Kim is the adorable, funny, kind, & strong woman who you will always find on the short barre at 9 AM! She brings a light & energy into the Studio whenever she walks through the doors. We love that this wife, mama, & attorney makes time to get her shake on — she motivates us all! Prepare to be inspired (I know we are!):
BARRE ADDICT // KIM SAUER
Q: INTRODUCE YOURSELF…
Hi. My name is Kim. I recently moved back to Columbus from Chicago with my husband (Evan), son (Crosby) and our Puggle (Lucy the Goose or Goose). I am a healthcare Attorney who has the pleasure of working from home!
Q: WHEN YOU’RE NOT PLIÉ (ING), SHAKING AND STRETCHING AT STUDIO B WELLNESS, WHERE CAN YOU BE FOUND?
Usually working or mom-ing. I have a very unique (and awesome) schedule working from home that allows me afternoons to just be a mom and spend time with Crosby at the park, wondering around the village (usually with a stop at Kitties) the library, playdates or the pool.
Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN COMING TO STUDIO B?
Since August 2015.
Q: HOW OFTEN DO YOU TAKE BARRE CLASSES?
Usually 4-5 days a week.
Q: WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK/WHAT DO YOU THINK SETS STUDIO B APART FROM OTHER WORKOUTS?
I truly think Studio B is like therapy. it’s a great space with great women who support and welcome you. It gets you out of your own head for a solid 65 minutes (Nancy class) where you can focus on yourself and your body. It’s so hard to ‘turn off’ with technology and life, and studio B is my ‘turn off’ time.
Q: WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU NOTICED IN YOUR BODY & LIFE SINCE YOU STARTED COMING USING THE STUDIO B METHOD?
I’m more toned, stronger and I have confidence / acceptance with my body. It really helped to get back into shape after having Crosby and breastfeeding for a year. I feel better about my body now than I did before pregnancy.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BARRE MOVE?
Pretzel. It’s a silent killer.
Q: WHAT IS THE MOVE THAT MOST CHALLENGES YOU?
Seated chair back to the bar.
Q: WHICH SONG PUMPS YOU UP EVERY TIME IT COMES ON?
Anything with a beat. Although every time I hear ‘Up Town Funk’ I feel the urge to do a shimmy shake.
Q: WHAT 3 WORDS WOULD YOU USE TO DESCRIBE STUDIO B?
An amazing space.
Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE FOR SOMEONE ABOUT TO TAKE HER FIRST BARRE CLASS?
There is really no harm in trying. Barre is such a great workout for the female body and studio b is an amazing, welcoming and supportive space.
Q: WHAT INSPIRES YOU ON AND OFF THE BARRE?
Lots of things really – my faith, my family, the world in general – as silly as it sounds, I really do think inspiration and beauty can be found in everything. God made us a wonderful world and life is a gift.
Q: HOW CAN PEOPLE FOLLOW ALONG WITH THE GREAT THINGS YOU HAVE GOING ON?
I am on Facebook (Kimberley Sauer) and Instagram (LB_Sauer) with the caveat that I am not very exciting.
