Nancy is the founder and owner of Studio B Wellness. A graduate of Capital University with an interdisciplinary degree in Health Science, Nancy has more than 25 years of experience in the fitness industry, including many years as a competitive gymnast. She is an NSCA-certified personal trainer and a PhysicalMind Institute-certified Pilates instructor. Nancy began studying barre exercise in 2006 with Suzanne Bowen, who was classically trained at the NYC-based Lotte Berk Method Studio and is the creator of BarreAmped and with Leah Sarago, the founder of Ballet Body in Nashville, TN. She has also completed studies with Tracey Mallett, world-renowned fitness and wellness expert and creator of the Booty Barre, and Baron Baptiste, founder and creator of Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga.
In 2009, Nancy became the first person to receive a BarreAmped certification and has since obtained three additional advanced certifications in the BarreAmped method. She recently also received a Core Fusion Barre Certification from Exhale Spa, the only fully accredited certification for barre exercise. Through continuing education, study and practice, Nancy works to better understand and establish a mind-body connection in herself and in others. With years of experience instructing, taking and observing barre classes, as well as, one-on-one sessions, Nancy has created a unique method that continues to challenge even the most advanced clients.
Nancy’s vision in founding Studio B was to create a space where women can embrace a mind-body connection, feel empowered and invest in their overall health and well-being. Utilizing her extensive knowledge in barre exercise, Nancy’s hands-on approach helps her clients achieve precise movements with maximum results. Nancy has built a team of experienced instructors who share this vision and are unparalleled in their field.
A classically trained dancer, Cassandra studied with the Missouri Concert Ballet for ten years. She was a two-time member and choreographer of the Universal Dance Association’s National Championship dance team and has appeared in specials for ESPN and Universal Studios. Cassandra holds a BA in Communications from the University of Missouri and worked in operations as a district manager throughout the Midwest following graduation. In addition to raising 4 amazing children, Cassandra has always made time to exercise and remain fit. She has tried various fitness programs throughout the years, but never found the results she was looking for until discovering barre exercise. Her strength and exquisite form quickly made her a natural candidate for teacher training and certification. Cassandra has been teaching with Nancy for more than four years and continues to expand in her growth and knowledge of the Studio B method. Cassandra’s concentrated, methodical approach to instruction allows clients to achieve impeccable form and exceptional results. Her vast knowledge of classic rock, encouraging attitude and dedication to her clients are the icing on the cake!
A runner since college, Simi was quickly hooked to the “runner’s high.” But after years and years of running for hours each day, training for race after race, Simi could not achieve the physical results she was seeking. She was frustrated and exhausted with the unsuccessful cycle. It wasn’t until her first barre class at Studio B that something clicked! Simi was so motivated and inspired by the wonderful women at Studio B that she couldn’t wait to come back. In no time, she fell in love with the intense physical challenge, refreshing mental clarity, and lean feminine muscles that each class produced. Following more than 200 classes at Studio B, Simi was thrilled to begin an apprenticeship with Nancy Brown, where she studied the barre method and become a certified instructor in 2014. After practicing corporate law for a number of years, Simi now devotes her entire career to women’s health and wellness. As a feminine wellness expert and certified holistic health coach, she works with women to heal their relationship with food and their bodies while guiding them to reach their health goals. Along with her hubby, Tim, Simi founded a lifestyle blog: The Micro Harvest. Simi loves encouraging the incredible ladies of Studio B with enthusiasm, 90s music, and a kick-butt workout at the barre!
Gina first came to studio B when she was five months pregnant. She was inspired by the challenging workout, the camaraderie of the women who attended and the undeniable results she saw during and after her pregnancy. With more than 500 classes under her belt, Gina began training to become an instructor. A natural born leader, she has a knack for motivating people to work hard and to push themselves to achieve strength, health and overall confidence.
A dancer from an early age, Gina cheered competitively throughout high school and went on to become a member of the University of Toledo Dance Team and an inaugural member of the Cleveland Force Dance Team. When she’s not at the studio, you’ll find her working at her day job, designing and facilitating professional development courses, or hanging out with the true loves of her life – her hubby and three-year old son.
In her free time, Gina loves traveling the world and learning about different people and cultures – she once lived in Dubai for 6 months! Her infectious personality, killer sense of humor and overall positive attitude has been an incredible addition to an already stellar teaching team!
From an early age, Kelly Poe loved exercise and in particular, sports. From cheerleading in high school to Crossfit, marathon running and most recently barre, she enjoys group fitness and feeds off the motivation and inspiration that comes from working out alongside friends.
A graduate of Kent State University with degrees in marketing and sports management, Kelly moved to Chicago following college and starting teaching at Pure Barre, as well as, working at Lululemon. In 2015, she left Pure Barre to pursue a certification in Core Fusion Barre. She recently moved to Columbus with her husband, accepting a Brand Management Coordinator position at Marzetti. After visiting several local studios, Kelly was thrilled to discover Studio B and was immediately drawn to the philosophy behind our teaching methods and to the community of women who attend.
Kelly brings a positive, friendly and thoughtful intensity to the Studio B team! She enjoys helping people achieve their goals and will inspire you to take your workout to the next level, while improving your health and confidence.
In her free time, Kelly loves exploring Columbus with her husband and her step son and can usually be found checking out new local restaurants, playing board games and of course, attending sporting events!
A natural born athlete, Katie Reis has always been drawn to team sports. From volleyball and basketball at a young age to lacrosse and field hockey in high school, she loves the camaraderie and motivation that comes from exercising with others. She came to Studio B on the recommendation of a co-worker and loved it from day one. In addition to the welcoming atmosphere, Katie appreciates the philosophy behind the Studio B method and has gained a more positive body image and a greater appreciation for her health.
Katie’s joyful attitude and determined spirit are a constant inspiration to the women of Studio B. Her enthusiastic personality, paired with her focus, drive and impeccable form paved the way for her to become an instructor. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Katie’s classes will motivate you to work hard and to push yourself - while having fun in the process!
A Columbus girl through and through, Katie attended The Ohio State University for her undergraduate studies, as well as for pharmacy school. She currently works as a pharmacist at The James Cancer Hospital. In her free time, Katie enjoys catching up with friends over coffee, hiking one of the Columbus’ many beautiful trails and volunteering at her church.
Lacey discovered Studio B following the birth of her second child and was hooked from day one! A natural born exerciser, Lacey grew up competitively skiing in the winter and golfing in the summer. She went on to play collegiate golf for Hope College and graduated with a degree in communications. Following several cross-country moves, she and her husband landed in Columbus, OH. Eager for a workout change, she tried barre for the first time and has been faithfully attending for more than 2 years. A mother of 2 small children, Lacey has been providing childcare at the Studio since 2012. She loves babies and kids of all ages and enjoys playing with them and reading to them while their mammas get a great workout downstairs!
